National Ad Campaign

Square Dancing needs Advertising!!!!
How about the Nec organizing a National ad campaign, using a professional ad agency, for all 50 states. This could be funded by collecting funds from every State Council, and when broken down, it could only cost each of us dancers a few dollars. We all talk about it, so is it not time to let all the people know what they are missing. All of our clubs are in need of help getting new dancers.
I tried sending msg to NEC on their contact us page, it does not go through.
Thank- you.

Advertising can help — SOME. But the most effective way to recruit new dancers is through personal invitation. At a recent League meeting, the State Fair Promenaders shared ideas from their rebuilding program. A $500 full page ad brought very disappointing results. Other ideas have been used, including ice cream socials, a booth at the state fair, and others. They have kept track of what attracted new dancers to their club, and they have found that personal invitation has been by far the most effective tool for recruiting new square dancers.

In Wichita, KS, we just formed a new club (Derby Barn Dance Club) to revive Contra Dancing, which I love. At our first club dance, we had 90 dancers, and most all had a fun time. The tools which helped us were emailing past contra dancers, setting up a facebook group and event, reaching out to other dance groups in the area, and personal invites. Unfortunately, it takes a crowd to attract a crowd, Also, it takes young people to attract other young dancers.

I am new to helping to organize dances. So I am still learning. And we do welcome ideas. derbybarndance at gmail dot com.
